Psychologically Informed Environments
PIE uses psychological theory to support staff and organisations to create residential and workplace environments which maximise the positive impact on service users through developing the skills of staff who work with them, through:
- Group staff training sessions
- Individual staff supervision
- Facilitating reflective practice sessions for staff
We began developing and implementing a PIE model at a housing project in York in 2014 and expanded to introduce PIE principles at other sites in Doncaster, Nottingham, Wolverhampton, Blackburn, Knowsley and Halton.
Since 2017, we have been working with eight housing projects in Sheffield to introduce and embed a PIE approach.
We are available to deliver information and briefing sessions introducing PIE concepts, and can provide PIE consultancy services.
We are part of the national PIE network working party, which is developing a PIE “distance travelled” tool to measure how psychologically-informed a setting is.
As well as being experienced in delivering PIE approaches in housing and prison environments, we are also interested in bringing psychologically informed approaches to educational and business settings, to enhance learning and maximise productivity.
